When we were consulting members and the community about facilities that they would like to see available at the shed, one of the things that came up was 3D Printing and similar technologies.
When building out the factory that we bought in October 2023, we included two small rooms that could be used for such things. We have made a start on setting up a Digital Making or Digital Craft room. This currently contains a computer to run a 3D printer that was donated to us, a Brother Scan-N-Cut digital cutter and a small hobbyist rotary and laser-burn CNC machine. This last we bought about 4 years ago to make plaques but it was superseded and we never really used it much.
The systems are not yet fully up and running but we would like to hear from members or others who would be interested in participating in this project. The 3D Printer is a XYZ Printing Da Vinci 2.0 dual filament machine so it is old but sophisticated. It needs some work to get it running properly. We have also been offered a more recent Elegoo filament printer but don’t have it yet.
If you are interested in this, please contact the Shed and Kim Harris will be in touch.
