HMS Zenith

HMS Zenith Comes to DCS Model Group

The Shed was delighted to be given this large radio controlled model ship by a local gentleman.

This is the HMS Zenith. She was a Z-Class Destroyer built by William Denny of Dunbarton laid down in 1942 and launched in 1944. She never saw service in the war and was sold to the Egyptian Navy in 1955. Amazingly, she remained in service as the El Fatah, latterly as a training ship, until 2015 and her fate thereafter is uncertain. She is presumed to have been scrapped.

The model has been in storage for quite a long time but is in good condition, just needing cleaning and a bit of renovation. We have no controller for it and the motor and controls probably need some attention but worst case, it is an impressive static display.

If you would like to read more about the ship, there is an article on Wikipedia.

I am happy that the community are happy to accept this model. I feel it will be well looked after, and will give it the tlc it needs.

    1. Thank you again for the model, Alan. We will publish updates when we get a chance to work on it. One of our members is donating an RC controller so we will establish what works!
