Kilmun Mausoleum Information Display

Sometime in the autumn of 2024 the woodwork section of the mens shed was approached by Historic Kilmun with a challenge. Could we make a mobile display unit for the Kilmun Mausoleum. They offered parts of a couple of old pews and an old door from the church buildings as source material. How could we resist! Over the next few months and into 2025 John Ferrie designed and made this piece of bespoke furniture. The timber was mainly oak (over 100 years old) and as the construction progressed the challenge continued in using the ever smaller pieces of oak to complete the stand; we did not want to use wood other that the old church timber. The information banners were designed and sourced by Historic Kilmun. Bob Reid of Historic Kilmun helped out with the finishing of the stand (sanding and varnishing) as well as mounting the banners on the stand.
